Picking the time of year, month, and day of the week can be very crucial in your move. Most people choose to move during the summer months when their children are out of school or during vacation.
Most moving companies need to hire seasonal help to meet this increase in moving. This means that inexperienced movers are often hired during these busy months. This problem also exists during the end and beginning of each month when leases expire, and on Fridays when people take off work. These peak periods are often more expensive than “off” periods.
Tuesdays and Wednesdays during the middle of the month are usually the best days to move.
When To Move

AMSA, the American Moving and Storage Association, is launching a new consumer protection and certification program called ProMover on January 1, 2009. This initiative is designed to fight imposters, known within the industry as “rogue operators,” like never before by giving consumers an easy way to separate reputable, professional movers from con artists out to make a quick buck at their expense. AmeriMOVE is an avid supporter of AMSA’s efforts to advance professional and reputable moving standards.
